To the person who was wondering “can a lilac bush give me a headache” the answer is “Yes.”

Our lilacs aren’t out right now — here’s the source of my current headache1 a beautiful puffy pink viburnum:

I think not.

Our neighbors recently installed a pond — it’s a pretty thing, with multiple levels and a recirculating fountain and plants and frogs.

And they leave it on. All. Day. And. All. Night. Long. In the quiet of the evening, I hear piddling noises and think it’s my dishwasher acting up again. Or I think that Plagioclase’s mother left her shower running again. Or I worry that the washer has overflowed again. Or… you get the picture.

Who said that ponds were relaxing?!

The good news is that I don’t have to wonder if I’d like to have a pond anymore. I’m unlikely to ever build a pond. Even a hundred feet away the sound is driving me bonkers.

The funny thing is, I didn’t see it when I was taking the pic — I was just enamored of the sun shining on the web.
