And Albite and Plagioclase’s Mother are currently vying for the top spot. I can’t decide — should it be Albite, who always manages to look and act like he’s never been fed, left to scrounge among the crumbs? Or should it be Plagioclase’s mother, who continually feeds him from the table after repeated (and vehement) exhortations not to?

Notwithstanding anything I said earlier, I’ve spent some time today playing with my digital (still) camera’s video feature. And iMovie. And Albite.

I also started a youtube account, just to see what it was like. So here’s my initial offering, 30 seconds of Albite wallowing in his pool (there’s no sound, because I haven’t learned how to actually talk and video at the same time). It makes me wish we had actually bought one of the several houses we’ve looked at that had swimming pools…

Some things are just too hard to write a post about. Not only the emotionally difficult topics, but also those odd moments of the day that you think “that would be good on my blog!” but when you get to your computer to compose the post, whatever you thought was good about the topic just went away.

For instance, I wanted to write about this sentence:

“He licked my toes until they itched.”

But I could not find a good story to wrap around it. If I was a different kind of blogger, you might think I was discussing my sexual escapades, or at least reporting what I overheard at the outdoor cafÃ© on a summery evening.

Nope, it was me, talking about my dog. Is that sad? That my dog licks my feet? He enjoys it, and once you get used to it, it’s kind of a nice massage — assuming you don’t mind not being able to direct the masseur to just the right spot. However, he will continue to do it until my skin is dried out. I think sometimes he’s just trying to soften me up for chewing later.

Looking at my web log files (not to be confused with my web log posts), I see that my movie of Albite bouncing at the camera is popular in China. At least it seems so. I get a couple of hits a day from baidu.com searches. Is someone putting my movie on their phone? Is it just a trickle that could turn into a torrent and eat all my bandwidth?

Sure wish I could read and type chinese…
