Time for the tinfoil hat

Ok, so we’ve got this latest warning about EMF coming off of cell phones, and reports that the most overused countertop material today emits radon gas at not-insignificant levels. How long will it be before somebody comes up with a lotion or supplement that will “protect” you? It can’t just be a pendant — it has to be something that gets used up so you can buy more!

I expect royalties. My rates are quite reasonable.

Next Week’s Challenge: Think of a six-letter word that ends in a silent letter. Remove that letter and you’ll get a five-letter word that ends in two silent letters. What are the words?

This one came to me, like many do, while I was in the shower. Here’s a hint: it would be a puzzle suitable for Halloween.

La Vielle Ferme, Récolte 2006

La Vieille Ferme, Côtes du Ventoux Rosé, 2006. About 10 bucks.

As part of our seasonal wines, we’ve been enjoying “The Chicken Rosé.” It’s “The Chicken” because there’s a hen and rooster on the beige label.

From the label:

Cinsault 50%, Granache 40%, Syrah 10%

This dry Rosé wine is intensely fruity. It comes from vines grown high on the slopes of Mount Ventoux, one of the best vineyards in the Rhône Valley.

I like the grapes in this wine, and I think the formulation works quite well. It’s dark pink and needs to be well-chilled, but you don’t feel like you ought to put ice cubes in it like some rosés. It even worked well with our hearty steak dinner because it was just so hot out.

When it’s too late for Tavel, I look for The Chicken. It’s my favorite findable rosé.

Orthoclase: A
Plagioclase: ?? (he’s not around for me to ask.)

It ain’t plurk

orthoclase [is] moderately annoyed by being told “some people have different pain thresholds.” Frack me.
