Whose responsibility?

Who’s responsible for making sure the pockets of clothing are empty before going into the washer?

In my mind, it’s the wearer of the clothing. However, apparently in other people in this household’s minds, it’s the duty of the launderer.

If you don’t do your own laundry, who should be emptying your pockets of used tissues?

  1. You should. If the washer does, though, the washer gets to keep any money or pocket gadgets found.

  2. “Money” — hah! I wish. I just get used Kleenex.

  3. In my house (read: “apartment”), it’s the launderer. That’s usually me. But as it turns out, the nice young lady whose clothes I often find myself washing has a tendency to leave $1s and $5s in her pockets… yay! And since I’m at a laundromat, this usually means that laundry doesn’t cost me as much as it otherwise would.
