Bemused

Plagioclase and I were at a sub shop for lunch today, and it slowly dawned on me that the guy in line who was talking a mile-a-minute was on the phone (using a bluetooth earpiece); not talking to (or even lunching with) the guy he was standing next to. It made me wonder how many people have to listen remotely to their colleagues’ lunch orders. It would have been even worse if he hadn’t hung up (yes, I know that’s an outmoded term) before he started chowing down. How appetizing that would have been to be on the other end, listening to amplified soup slurping…
