Context is important

Not only the emotionally difficult topics, but also those odd moments of the day that you think “that would be good on my blog!” but when you get to your computer to compose the post, whatever you thought was good about the topic just went away.
For instance, I wanted to write about this sentence:
“He licked my toes until they itched.”
But I could not find a good story to wrap around it. If I was a different kind of blogger, you might think I was discussing my sexual escapades, or at least reporting what I overheard at the outdoor café on a summery evening.
Nope, it was me, talking about my dog. Is that sad? That my dog licks my feet? He enjoys it, and once you get used to it, it’s kind of a nice massage — assuming you don’t mind not being able to direct the masseur to just the right spot. However, he will continue to do it until my skin is dried out. I think sometimes he’s just trying to soften me up for chewing later.
