Seminonymity

I’ve been thinking about pseudonymous blogging a bit lately, what with my moving out of the dorm of blogspot and into the off-campus apartment of feldsparring.com. I’ve been asking myself why I don’t just come clean? I mean, it’s not like I hide much — just my name — why not blog under it? My few readers know things I like and hate, and my relationship with my parents, and lots of stuff about me that I’m not sure I know about or have considered, because I only take posts one at a time, while you readers get the chance to see them and say “oh no, not another post on how bad radio is!”

But there is comfort in hiding behind this thin veil, so I’ll continue to be “Orthoclase” though you’ll see even more stuff I’ve been wanting to share that’s more “normal” blogging. Pictures of my dog, for instance. Though you’ll know him by his blog name: Albite.

In fact, here’s a picture of him now:

Welcome to the new digs!

Now if I can just get some decent rock pictures…

Well, now here we are.

The problem with spouting off and saying “hey! I can have categories if I move to a new host/new software system!” is that now that I’m here, I don’t know how to categorize the crap I write.

And of course, I wanted to have a splashy (yet thoughtful, well-considered, and tasteful) first post here at the New and Improved Rock Pile but my teeny brain has elected to neglect my desires in favor of sleep. That’s right folks, I’m typing this while my genteel self is unconscious.

I think it was all the sun I got yesterday — more on that some other time. Real posting to commence after a bit…
